How To Fix Your Hat's Form

E-mail Print PDF

Fix your hat's droopy formI love wearing hats, but what I don't like is when it starts losing its form. This can be for a number of reasons; maybe it got trampled, got wet, or like me you just love your hat so much you've worn it into submission!

An easy way to re-inforce your hats good behavior is to use a spray starch. It usually comes in an aerosol can and can be found in most grocery and drug stores in the laundry detergent or cleaning supplies section. I found my can at Shoppers Drug Mart for around $4.50.

So all you have to do is:

- Give the saggy hat a good spray.
- Enforce the form you want by stuffing the inside of the hat with tissue paper or newspaper. Or use a mannequin head. (If you have one lying around - you creeper Wink)
- Let it dry.

That's it, you should notice a hat with a much more reinforced body. If it's not stiff enough just re-apply a second time.

A plus to using starch is that it will absorb dirt and other particles instead of the fibres of your hat, making it easier to clean.
